      • The Employment Development Department (EDD) develops and supports programs to help veterans obtain employment, job training, and job counseling. Veterans can register with Cal-Jobs and receive veteran's priority in job referrals and develop an on-line resume. In addition, the EDD provides other services such as tips on resume preparation and interviewing techniques, as well as information regarding the labor market and apprenticeship programs. The Disability Program Navigator helps people with disabilities "navigate" through the enormous challenges of seeking work.

      • The CVSO is an office established by the Board of Supervisors of Humboldt County to assist veterans, their dependents and survivors, and the general public in obtaining benefits from federal, state and local agencies administering programs for veterans. We are a county agency and NOT a federal Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA).
      • Our purpose is to provide advocacy to the veteran community regarding entitlement rights to federal, state and local benefits programs.
        • We offer the following services:
          • - Comprehensive benefit counseling.
          • - Claim preparation and submission.
          • - Claim follow-up to insure final decision.
          • - Initiate and develop appeals when appropriate.
          • - Networking with federal, state and local agencies.
  • North Coast Stand Down

      • The Northern California Stand Down takes place the 1st weekend in October beginning at 8am on Friday and wrapping up at noon on Sunday. Food, showers, lodging, clothing, government surplus, and over 40 service providers make up the core of standdown. Stand Down is coordinated by 30 volunteers in addition to the 200 community members that come together to serve our veterans and their families. If you are a veteran or know someone who served in the military, don't miss this event.

      • NCVRC is a California nonprofit corporation whose mission is to assist unemployed and/or homeless veterans to identify and successfully achieve their individual community participation goals, including self-sufficient living and/or permanent employment. N.C.V.R.C. has offices in Eureka, Santa Rosa, Sacramento, Menlo Park, and Oakland. NCVRC's services are delivered through three programs, including the operation of a transitional housing program for appropriate homeless veterans. The NCVRC's services are free to eligible veterans of all eras and conflicts.

      • The Redwoods Vet Center specializes in counseling for combat veterans, but various other counseling services are offered to eligible veterans. Veteran eligibility is based on period of service and generally includes recognized periods of military conflict including: WW-II, Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, Persian Gulf, Somalia, and for those veterans who have served in the former Yugoslavia.

      • The Eureka Veterans Medical Clinic has been open for operation since January 25, 1999. Humboldt and Del Norte counties have approximately 18,000 veterans. These soldiers,sailors and airmen span the time period from before World War II, through the Gulf War, to today.

      • Mad River Honor Guard serves at community functions but primarily service is at the funerals of departed Veterans. Departed Veterans deserve the dignity of a military style farewell. Families always deeply appreciate the honors accorded their loved one by fellow veterans. Veterans who are proud of their service to their country can demonstrate that pride in this unique ceremony. Membership in the Honor Guard is open to all Veterans of any U.S. armed service regardless of where or when service occurred.
